Answer:
Have you actually been diagnosed with a candida overgrowth? If so there are a number of medications that your doctor can prescribe to eliminate the overgrowth. However, you ought to look at the root cause of the problem or it may well come back.Diet is a great way to keep candida in check. It is an organism that lives quite happily in our GI tract and other places on and in the body and normally causes no problems at all. The 'good' bacteria and a healthy immune system tend to keep the candida at levels that do us no harm. However, should these be no longer able to cope, then the candida can start to grow and cause problems. For women, vaginal yeast infections are caused by candida and this is normally down to hormanal changes that turn the vaginal environment from its normal acidic state which keeps yeast in check, to one that allows the infection to take hold.So a candida diet works in a number of ways. It aims to starve the candida yeast while nourishing the body to increase the good bacteria and boost the immune system.Eliminating sugar and foods containing sugar is a great way of starving the candida as it is a yeast that relies on sugars to grow. Also avoid products that contain yeast (like breads and alcohol) and fungi (aged cheeses and mushrooms).Choose processed foods carefully and avoid them if possible. They can contain hidden sugars and other ingredients that will 'feed' the candida. Your best bet is to eat fresh foods that you prepare yourself for maximum nutritional value. Also, try to introduce some probiotic foods into your diet. These are foods that help to replace the good bacteria - things like 'live' yogurt or probiotic drinks or supplements.
