How do you know have overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism?

whats the difference?
Answer:
Overactive thyroid, Hyperthyroidism and Thyrotoxicosis are the different names of the same condition. There is overproduction of thyroid hormones, Thyroxin(T4) and tri-iodo-thyronine(T3). The pituitary-produced TSH is supressed due to the overactivity of thyroid. This conditions is commoner in women of age 18-38 and remains for about 4-5 years. there is weight loss, sweating, palpitation, fairness of complexion, tremours and hyperdefecation. Any good clinician can suspect thyrotoxicosis on the above symptoms and a blood test for T3, T4 TSH can usually confirm the diagnosis.
The main one is that you can't sit still. Have trouble sleeping. Difficulty in gaining weight or loosing weight without reason to name a few.
blood test
They are the same, the first sign is weight loss, your hungry all the time but never put any weight on. Cant sleep very well, sweaty palms. Hope that helps you ..
hypothyroidism means your metablism is slow you just generally have less energy
hyperthyroidism means you have a fast metablism and you have more energy but you tend to sleep more
You should have blood test done to be sure and then you can get the proper medication for it. DON'T second guess it.
Everyone is different.
take a blood test and see your health care provider, one is slow and the other is fast
