How do you cure nail fungus?

Don't want to pop pills (with other side effects). Heard of soaking in Apple cider Vinegar. Or, soaking in fresh Pineapple juice, or using raw garlic on the nail. etc. Has any of you actually experienced a complete removal of the fungus? thanks.
Answer:
I was told by a 'foot person' to use sand paper to sand off the shiney top layer of my nail. Because that is what protects the actual nail bed. Then soak a cotton bud/Q-tip with tea tree oil and dab it all over the nail and also as much as i can under the tip ... tea tree is an anti-fungul.
2 years down the line and not very dedicated application but i have still managed to shift it completely.
The 'foot person' told me one thing to watch out for is that the fungus don't get into the other nail on the affected foot. And even now i still use tea tree oil once a week as a preventative. Fungus is notoriously hard to get rid off. I'm on my guard should it return.
I have always waivered between Lamisil and the side effects of it and natural remedies..i have found that for me, soaking the nails in a cup of hydrogen peroxide really helps with keeping the nails clean and free of thick pieces of fungus.good luck...im still trying to completely remove mine, although i do know that fungus is caused by an overgrowth of candida, so maybe eating less starchy foods would help. Great Luck!
try cleaning them with tea tree oil. heard thats really effective stuff.
Possibly solutions
is 1)Vicks Vapor Robs(sp?)
2) half water and half Listerine
3)half water and half vinegearand search it on the web. I read that it can take several months
I am afraid none of these will help at all!If you want to avoid pills try a local treatment like Loceryl lacquer from your GP. Even this can take 4-6 months for finger nails and a year or more to clear toe nails.
stop eating with your hands, use a knife an fork
Gold Star Ointment or Vicks Vapor Rub will work. Try and get either one of these ointments underneath the affected nails. Do this daily until the nails have bonded with the skin underneath the nail.
I've read over and over again about the good effects of Vicks Vaporub, so when I got nail fungus I tried it. I had to use it for a month or two [can't really remember the length of time] but it did work, at least for me.
You might try mangosteen juice an all natural product. A friend had terrible fungus and used the mangosteen juice with great success. The side benefit was that the mangosteen juice helped lower his cholesterol and helped reduce his allergy symptoms. For more information go to: http://mymangostgeen.com/bobcathy...
you can get this stuff made from manuka honey its like a nail paint - -you paint it on and persevere with it - it will work. Myabe you could look at eating more things like garlic, onions so you will be treating it from the inside too. There are probably herbs you could take internally too. A good book to research in is Bartrams Herbal Encylopedia
good luck!

Hi thereIt all depends on how long you have had the fungus nail infection for.
If you have had it for a few weeks, then not a problem and easy to resolve. if you have had it for a while and it has spread to more than one toe, a lot more problematical and difficult to erradicate.First if it is only one one toe and very recent: make sure your feet are well dry after showering, make sure that you don't spread it to everyone as it is really contagious, especially in showers, swimming pools etc. One good way to avoid getting it is to wear flip flops, same goes for avoiding to spread it.
After showering or bathing, take a clean nail file, and some Tea tree, and file the growth that is on the to of the nail away, but do this slowly, you don't want to file the whole nail off, that would be really painful!, then apply some tea tree, do this on a daily basis, and each time us a new nail file. Also keep your diet as free of yeast %26 sugary food as possible, as this is fungus food, you want to starve it, not nourrish it!! This works, I have used this method many times on self, relatives, friends %26 patients, which completely removed fungus on toe (usually starts on little toe btw). However if you have had it for a while, there are many ways herbal medicine can help. It all involve an internal treatment, wich may not taste good but is a lot kinder to your body %26 your liver than the orthodox medicines that are available for fungal nail. The treatment will last for a long time, as it is a fickle thing to get rid off. The herbs given would mostly be anti-fungal such as thuja, calendula, adding some bitter tonics to flush any toxins %26 help balance your liver especially if this is aggravetated by candida (ex of herbs are milk thistle, dandelion, artichoke), other herbs included may be nervines, adrenals etc, this all depends on your overall presenting complaint. Your should never self treat this. Go an see your local qualified herbalist, they will be able to make you up a prescriprion tailored to yourself and your condition, if you stick with it (but as I said it takes a while, the longer you have had it, the longer it will take, usually times it by 2, so say you have had it for 6 months, it will take 1 year...I know...OMG!, but true). if you stick to the prescription, it will eventually go away, I have seen this a lot. What ever you do always seek qualified help!
